FAQ

Questions people ask before they sign up

Every answer here has to be true of the product as it is today, not as it is planned. Where the honest answer is "not yet", it says so. The Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy are the binding versions of anything below.

Getting started

What is WealthTIP?

WealthTIP brings your financial picture into one place: what you own, what you owe, and where your money goes. It is built around three areas. Track It is your money today, Invest It is educational writing published by financial professionals, and Protect It is a checklist of the coverage most people are supposed to have. When you want real help, you can find and contact an independent professional from inside the app.

Who is it for?

Anyone who wants a clear view of their money, not only people who already have a lot of it. The free plan carries the whole dashboard, and finding a professional and reading what they have published costs nothing.

Is it really free?

There is a free plan and it stays free: the dashboard, budgeting and spending, and the educational content professionals publish. There are optional paid plans that add more, and connecting with a professional costs nothing. Every current price is on the pricing page, which is the only place we state them, so that a number here can never go stale. We do not sell your personal or financial information, and we do not use it to target you with advertising.

How do I get started?

Create an account and add your accounts. Adding an account by hand takes a couple of minutes and needs no bank login, so you can have a real picture before you decide whether to link anything.

Why is my dashboard empty when I sign up?

Because there is nothing in it yet. WealthTIP does not invent numbers. Add an account under Track It, or switch on the demo data in Settings to look around first.

What is the demo data?

It is a sample household with accounts, transactions, budgets and goals, so you can explore every feature before entering anything real. Load it from Settings, and clear it from the same place when you are done.

Your accounts and your data

Can I add accounts by hand instead of linking a bank?

Yes, and it is a first-class path rather than a fallback. You can track things that have no institution at all, such as a house, cash or a vehicle, by leaving the institution blank.

Can WealthTIP link my bank accounts automatically?

Yes, where bank sync is enabled and your institution is reachable through our aggregation provider. It is one switch for the whole product rather than a per-account setting, so it is on for everybody or for nobody. Everything in WealthTIP works without it. A linked account shows when it last updated; a manual account shows no sync line, because nothing updates it but you.

Can WealthTIP move my money?

No. Linked connections are read-only, and we are not a bank: we do not hold deposits, lend, or take custody of your funds. Information from a linked account can be delayed or inaccurate, and your own institution's records control.

Do you store my bank username and password?

No, we never receive them. When you link a bank, your credentials pass from your browser to a third-party aggregation provider, whose own terms and privacy policy govern that connection. A manual account involves no bank credentials at all.

What happens if I unlink a bank?

Future updates stop. The accounts and transaction history already synced stay in your account until you delete them or delete your account, and the profile the aggregation provider holds for you is removed when you delete your account.

Security and privacy

How is my data protected?

Everything travels over TLS, and browsers are instructed to refuse an unencrypted connection to us. In our database, your date of birth, your multi-factor authentication secret and the session token for a bank connection are each individually encrypted. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash and is never recoverable, by us or by anyone else. Your email address and name are stored in ordinary columns, because your email address is the key we look you up by. You can add a passkey or multi-factor authentication, and you can require a passkey to sign in. No service can promise perfect security, and we do not. We are not certified under SOC 2 or any comparable audit programme, and we will say so on the Privacy Policy if that changes.

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell your personal or financial information, we do not share it without your consent, and we do not use it to target you with advertising.

Who can see my financial information?

You. Professionals cannot currently view your accounts, balances or transactions through WealthTIP at all: that surface does not exist yet. When you request a connection you choose which accounts to share and whether to include balances and transactions, and that choice is recorded as the permission it will operate under; for now the professional is told only how many accounts you chose and whether you included balances and transactions. What a professional can see of your finances today is what you write to them, and anything you send them through the document vault.

FINA

What is FINA?

FINA is the name for the automated explanations WealthTIP shows alongside your information: how far through your budget you are, a category that has gone over its target, a projected balance from the figures you entered.

Is FINA an AI, or a chatbot?

No. FINA is not a conversational assistant, and no language model or third-party AI service is involved in producing it. Its output is computed by WealthTIP from your own data using fixed rules and calculations. No third-party artificial-intelligence provider receives your information, and we do not use your data to train any model.

Is FINA giving me financial advice?

No. FINA is not a financial adviser and does not provide personalized investment, legal or tax advice. It works from the information you have provided and from figures we calculate from it, and its rules also carry general financial rules of thumb that are not derived from your data. It can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, so treat it as estimates, not advice, and not as a substitute for a qualified professional.

Track It, Invest It, Protect It

What is the difference between the three?

Track It is your money today: accounts, budget, transactions and cash flow. Invest It is educational writing published by financial professionals, filtered to the topics you choose. Protect It is a plain checklist of the coverage most people are supposed to have, across insurance, estate and tax, so you can spot what is missing.

Is Protect It insurance, legal or tax advice?

No. It is an awareness checklist and a starting point for a conversation, not a determination. It cannot see your policies or your state's rules. WealthTIP is not a law firm or an accounting firm and does not provide legal or tax advice; the point of the checklist is to help you notice a gap so you can ask a qualified professional the right question.

Working with a professional

How do I find a professional?

WealthTIP presents professionals in a directory you search and filter. We do not match, rank by suitability, or recommend any professional to you, and no professional can pay us for placement. The default ordering is ours and we would rather tell you what it is: professionals who hold the Licensed badge appear before the rest, and the directory shows only professionals who have marked themselves as accepting new clients. Filter by state and professionals licensed there are floated above the rest; with no state chosen there is no such ordering, because there is no state to be licensed in. You can read what someone has published in Invest It before you ever contact them.

What does "verified" mean on a professional's profile?

Where a professional is shown as verified, it means we checked the credential they claimed against the issuing authority, for example a FINRA, SEC, CPA, state bar or insurance registry record, at the time we checked it. The check is not repeated automatically. Verification means only that. It is not an endorsement, a recommendation, or a guarantee of quality; it is not an assessment of whether that professional is suitable for you; and it is not a statement that their credential remains current after the verification date. A professional shown without the Licensed badge has no credential we have confirmed active with the issuing body: they may not hold one, or the credential they entered is self-reported. They are still listed and can still be contacted, and the missing badge says only what WealthTIP has not done. Designations a professional lists, such as CFA®, are marked Self-declared: they are the professional's own statement, and WealthTIP does not check them. You remain responsible for your own diligence, including confirming a professional's current standing directly with the relevant regulator.

Are professionals employees of WealthTIP?

No. Every professional listed is an independent practitioner running their own business. We do not supervise, direct or control their professional work, and any engagement you enter into is between you and that professional.

What does it cost to connect with a professional, and who pays?

Nothing. Requesting a connection is free, and once the professional accepts, you can message each other. A professional may show their fees on their profile; any fee like that is agreed and paid directly between you and the professional, not through WealthTIP. WealthTIP takes no payment for a connection or a meeting, holds no money for anyone, and takes no share of what you pay a professional. We do not charge you a percentage of your assets and we take no commission on any financial product.

Can I end a connection with a professional?

Yes. Either of you can end it from Requests at any time. You both keep your past messages to read, neither of you can send new ones, and the professional loses access to what you shared through the vault.

What if I change my mind before they accept?

You can cancel a request you have sent while it is still waiting to be accepted. If a professional declines, the request closes.

What if I have a dispute with a professional?

A dispute with a professional is between you and them. WealthTIP is not a party to it and does not adjudicate. We may help by providing records or pointing you to the appropriate regulator, but we have no obligation to resolve, mediate or compensate.

Plans and billing

What do I get on the free plan, and what does a paid plan add?

The free plan covers the dashboard, budgeting and spending insights, the educational content professionals publish, and reaching a professional, which is free. Paid plans add deeper FINA analysis, scenario and cash-flow projections, and a household option that covers more than one person. What each plan costs, and exactly what is in it, is on the pricing page.

Does a paid plan renew automatically?

Yes. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or annually depending on your plan, at the then-current rate until you cancel. The price, the billing period and how to cancel are shown before you subscribe, and you have to agree to the recurring charge. If we change subscription pricing we will tell you at least thirty days before it takes effect, and it applies to your next renewal.

How do I cancel, and do I lose my data?

Cancel at any time from Settings, using Manage subscription to open the Stripe billing portal, or by emailing support@wealthtip.ai. Cancelling stops future renewals, takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and returns your account to the free plan. Your account and your data remain; the paid features simply stop. We do not give partial-period refunds when you cancel, and nothing here limits a refund we are required by law to give you.

What payment methods do you take?

Cards, processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details.

For financial professionals

How do I join as a professional?

Create a professional account from the site; your listing goes live once you save your profile. A credential you add shows on your profile as self-reported until we have confirmed it active with the issuing body; only then does it earn the Licensed badge, which shows the date of that check, and one we cannot confirm is removed from your public profile.

Do I need a credential to join?

No. You can join and be listed without one, and coaches list without a license. If you hold a license, registration or certification WealthTIP checks - an SEC or state investment adviser representative registration or a FINRA broker registration (by CRD number), a CPA license, a state bar admission, an insurance producer license, IRS enrolled agent status, or CFP Board certification - submit it from your profile and we check it against the issuing body; once confirmed, your profile shows the Licensed badge. Each credential on your profile says Verified, with the date we confirmed it, or Self-reported, until we have. Other certifications and designations, such as CFA®, are listed on your profile as self-declared; WealthTIP does not check them, and they never earn the Licensed badge.

What does it cost to be on WealthTIP?

The entry tier has no subscription. WealthTIP takes no commission, no cut of your fees and no charge per connection, and it does not process payments between you and your clients: the fees you show on your profile are yours to arrange and collect directly. The subscription tiers above it, which add client capacity, are not on sale yet; the top tier is by arrangement. Tier prices are on the pricing page.

What are the rules for publishing?

Educational content with the required disclosures attached. No performance promises, and no solicitation of specific securities. Content you publish stays yours; views expressed in it are yours, not WealthTIP's.

What WealthTIP is not

Is WealthTIP a bank?

No. We do not hold deposits, lend, or take custody of your funds. The only payment you make through WealthTIP is for your own subscription, processed by Stripe; we pass no money to or from professionals.

Is WealthTIP a registered investment adviser?

No. WealthTIP is a technology platform. We do not provide investment advice, manage assets, or make recommendations about securities, insurance or any financial product, and we are not a broker or dealer.

Is WealthTIP my fiduciary?

No. WealthTIP owes you no fiduciary duty. An individual professional you engage may owe you duties under their own professional obligations, which is between you and them, so ask them directly and read their disclosures.

Leaving, and getting help

How do I download my data?

Settings, then Download my data. You get a file containing the records you have created in WealthTIP, with a manifest listing what is included and what is left out. Some things are deliberately not in it, including security logs, the contents of vault files, and messages written to you by someone else.

How do I delete my account?

Settings, then Delete account. Deletion does not happen immediately: there is a thirty day grace period, and you can cancel at any point before erasure begins, from Settings or from the link in the confirmation email. After that your financial information, coverage answers, notifications, published content and sign-in credentials are erased. Records that have another person on the other side of them, such as a connection with a professional and the messages inside it, are kept with your name, email address and date of birth stripped out of the account they point at. Security and audit records, billing records and your consent records are retained. We cannot remove copies of public pages held by search engines or other caches.

Why does my dashboard show zero when I have accounts?

That is a bug, not something you did. Refresh first, and if it persists tell us what you were doing right before it happened.

How do I contact support?

Email support@wealthtip.ai, or use the feedback button inside the app, which is on every page.
